NSS Volunteers at ISM Organize “Gullak”, A Diwali Donation Drive to Spread the Light of Kindness

ISM, Patna, October 17, 2025: As the festival of lights approaches, the National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers of the International School of Management (ISM), Patna embraced the true essence of Diwali by organizing a heartfelt initiative titled “Gullak” on the eve of the festival, Friday, October 17, 2025. It was led by Admin, Neeru Kumari and coordinated by Assistant Professors, Ms. Swati Savarn, Mr. Alok Utpal, and Mr. Satish Kumar.

Guided by the vision of the Academic Head, Dr. Sweta Rani, and supported by faculty members across departments, the “Gullak” programme beautifully symbolized how small individual contributions can collectively bring about a meaningful change in society.

The initiative invited voluntary donations from students, teachers, and staff members of ISM Patna. The collected amount was used to purchase and distribute essential items, including food packets, clothes, and basic household goods, to underprivileged families, old age homes, orphanages, and slum areas, helping them celebrate Diwali with warmth and happiness.in nearby localities, ensuring that they too could experience the warmth and joy of Diwali.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sweta Rani expressed that “Diwali is not just about lighting lamps in our homes but also about illuminating lives around us. ‘Gullak’ embodies the spirit of collective compassion, where every small contribution counts toward creating a larger impact.”

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the ISM community, with faculty coordinators and NSS volunteers working tirelessly to ensure the initiative's success. A digital payment option (QR code) was also provided to make contributing convenient and inclusive for all.

Mr. Basukinath Upadhyay, NSS Coordinator, remarked that such initiatives nurture empathy and social consciousness among students, aligning perfectly with ISM’s mission of holistic education and community engagement.

“Gullak” not only celebrated the festival of lights but also highlighted the value of giving and sharing, reminding everyone that the true radiance of Diwali shines brightest when hearts are united in kindness.
