National Conferences at ISM Patna Explore Communication, Sustainability, and India’s Vision 2047

ISM Patna, June 5, 2026: Demonstrating its commitment to academic excellence, interdisciplinary research, innovation, and nation-building, the International School of Management (ISM), Patna, successfully organized two National Conferences in a hybrid format on June 5, 2026. The conferences focused on the themes “Vision 2047: Transforming India's Economy Through Sustainable Business Practices” and “Sustainable Development & Social Change Through Communication,” bringing together academicians, researchers, industry professionals, media experts, scholars, and students from across the country.

The conferences were conducted under the visionary leadership and patronage of Chairman Sri Samrendra Singh, Vice Chairman Sri Deval Singh, and Secretary Sri Amal Singh, with academic guidance from Director Prof. (Dr.) Sandeep Kumar, Dean and Principal Prof. (Dr.) Viveka Nand Sharma, Academic Head Prof. (Dr.) Sweta Rani, and IQAC Coordinator Ms. Neeru Kumari.

More than 120 research papers were presented across multiple technical sessions by academicians, researchers, media practitioners, scholars, and students representing diverse institutions from across India. The deliberations covered a wide range of contemporary themes, including sustainable business models, green finance, corporate governance, economic transformation, entrepreneurship, policy frameworks for Vision 2047, development communication, digital media, environmental communication, media literacy, social advocacy, and community engagement.

A major highlight of the events was the unveiling of the cover pages of two conference volumes, “Vision 2047: Transforming India's Economy Through Sustainable Business Practices” and “Sustainable Development & Social Change Through Communication”, comprising selected research papers presented during the conferences. The publications aim to contribute significantly to scholarly discourse on sustainable development, economic transformation, responsible communication, and social progress.

Welcoming the distinguished guests and participants, Prof. (Dr.) Sandeep Kumar, Director, ISM Patna and Conference Chairperson, emphasized that sustainable development requires a holistic approach integrating economic growth, environmental responsibility, ethical governance, and effective communication. He noted that India's aspiration to become a developed nation by 2047 can be realized only through collaborative efforts involving academia, industry, policymakers, and civil society.

The Commerce Conference was convened by Mr. Sudhir Kumar Sinha, Head of the Department of Commerce, while the Communication Conference was convened by Dr. Sunita, Head of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication. Both conveners highlighted the importance of research-driven dialogue in addressing contemporary challenges and shaping future policy and practice.

The inaugural session of the Commerce Conference was graced by Dr. Tapan Kumar Shandilya, Principal, T.P.S. College and former Vice Chancellor of D.S.P.M.U., Ranchi; N.P.U., Medininagar; V.K.S.U., Ara; and N.O.U., Patna, as Chief Guest. In his keynote address, he emphasized the role of higher education institutions in cultivating sustainable economic thinking and preparing socially responsible business leaders.

The Communication Conference featured Prof. Monica Prasad, Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, USA, as Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, she highlighted the transformative power of communication in shaping public discourse, influencing policy frameworks, and empowering communities to participate actively in sustainable development initiatives.

The distinguished Guests of Honour included Dr. Siddharth Bhardwaj, Head of the Department of Economics, Patna College; CA Vikash Ranjan Sahay, CMD, V Cap Money; Ms. Rachna Priyadarshini, noted journalist and entrepreneur; Mr. Prabhakar Kumar Prajapati, researcher and social activist; Mr. Amitabh Kumar Ojha, Associate Editor, News24 Bihar and Jharkhand; and Prof. (Dr.) Manu Mangattu, distinguished academician, researcher, and writer from Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta, Indonesia. The speakers shared valuable perspectives on economic transformation, sustainable finance, ethical governance, media responsibility, participatory communication, and the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals.

Adding a creative dimension to the event, students of the BA (Journalism and Mass Communication) Sixth Semester screened their documentary film “Ganga,” which received widespread appreciation for its thoughtful portrayal of environmental concerns and the cultural significance of the river.

The inaugural proceedings were efficiently moderated by Dr. Anas Rayees, Ms. Swati Savarn, and Ms. Ragdah Jawaid, ensuring engaging discussions and smooth conduct of the programmes. Formal votes of thanks during the inaugural sessions were proposed by Mr. Sudhir Kumar Sinha and Dr. Sunita, respectively.

The technical sessions witnessed vibrant scholarly discussions and meaningful exchanges of ideas. Conference reports summarizing the major deliberations, recommendations, and outcomes were presented by Dr. Anas Rayees and Dr. Shatakshi Srivastava, reflecting the rich intellectual engagement achieved during the events.

The conferences concluded with valedictory sessions where Dr. D. N. Singh proposed the vote of thanks and highlighted the significance of sustainable business practices and responsible communication in ensuring inclusive growth, environmental stewardship, social transformation, and long-term national development. He also noted that the successful organization of these conferences marked the culmination of a series of academic conferences hosted by the Departments of Computer Applications, PGDM, Management, Commerce, and Journalism & Mass Communication between May 23 and June 5, 2026.

The successful conduct of the twin conferences reaffirmed ISM Patna’s unwavering commitment to promoting quality research, intellectual exchange, innovation, and sustainable development-oriented education, while contributing meaningfully to India’s journey towards achieving the goals of Vision 2047.
