Mock Parliament on ‘Union Budget-2024’ at ISM

ISM Patna (09 February 2024): Under the guidance of the Economics and FinanceDepartment of the International School of Management Patna (ISM Patna) PGDM VthTrimester Students conducted a stimulating Mock Parliament on the Union Budget 2024, showcasing the institute's commitment to fostering a comprehensive understanding of economic policies and governance among its students. The event, held on Friday, 9 February 2024, witnessed enthusiastic participation from students pursuing PGDM, BBA and BCA. On this occasion, the Director of the Institute, Dr. V. B. and Singh and the Principal, Dr. Sachin Bhaskar were present as the chief guest to encourage the participants. The Mock Parliament served as a platform for students to engage in thoughtful debates, critical discussions, and strategic decision-making, emulating the parliamentary proceedings related to the Union Budget. The participants delved into various aspects of the budget, including fiscal policies, economic reforms, and their impact on different sectors. Himanshu Sai, a PGDM student presided over this parliament simulating as the speaker. Jyoti Prakash, a PGDM II student, as a finance minister introduced the Budget. Simran Kumari, Saloni Kumari, Karishma Kumari, Rishi Raj, Aditi Kumari, Sambhav Raj, Sumit Raj, Alisha Khanam presented their views on the positive points of the Budget, while under the leadership of opposition leader, Akshay Kumar, a PGDM Second Trimester student, Sahil Kumar, Ujjawal Bhardwaj, Sangam Singh, Harsh Raj, Aman Kumar, Ayush Kumar Thakur countered the pro-budget leaders. The event brought together students from various academic backgrounds, creating a dynamic and inclusive environment for discussions on the Union Budget's implications across different industries. The students, in their respective roles as parliamentarians, exhibited a keen understanding of the political and economic landscape. The simulation closely mirrored the actual parliamentary proceedings, providing participants with hands-on experience in policy formulation and debate.

The event attracted a diverse audience, including faculty members, industry experts, and fellow students. The audience actively participated in the discussions, creating a vibrant intellectual atmosphere. Prateek Ranjan a PGDM Fifth Trimester student, exhibited his managerial acumen in coordinating the whole programme designed by the TPO, Neeru Kumari and the Head of the HR Department, Ms Pooja Dubey. Dr. Shilpi Kavita, Head of the Department of Economics and Finance expressing her satisfaction with the students' performance said, "The Mock Parliament on Union Budget 2024 at ISM Patna not only showcased the intellectual prowess of the participating students but also underlined the institute’s commitment to a holistic education that goes beyond traditional classroom learning. Such initiatives prepare students for real-world challenges, equipping them with the skills and knowledge necessary for future leadership roles in business, politics, and society."
