ISM Patna, June 5, 2026: Reinforcing its commitment to environmental sustainability, social responsibility, and community engagement, the NSS Cell of the International School of Management (ISM), Patna successfully organized a week-long series of activities from June 2 to June 5, 2026, to commemorate World Environment Day. The programme aimed to create awareness about environmental conservation, sustainable living, and collective responsibility towards protecting nature.
The Environment Day Week was conducted under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Sandeep Kumar, Director, Prof. (Dr.) Viveka Nand Sharma, Dean and Principal, and Prof. (Dr.) Sweta Rani, Academic Head, whose continuous encouragement inspired students and faculty members to actively participate in the green initiative.
As part of the celebrations, NSS volunteers organized impactful Nukkad Nataks (street plays) at Saguna More and Danapur Railway Station, drawing the attention of commuters, local residents, and visitors. Through creative performances, the volunteers highlighted pressing environmental concerns such as pollution, excessive use of plastics, deforestation, waste mismanagement, and climate change. The performances also emphasized practical measures that individuals can adopt to protect the environment, including tree plantation, waste segregation, water conservation, and sustainable consumption practices.
The awareness drives received an enthusiastic response from the public. NSS volunteers interacted directly with community members, encouraging them to become active stakeholders in environmental protection. To further promote green consciousness, saplings and plants were distributed among citizens, symbolizing the importance of increasing green cover and fostering a culture of environmental stewardship.
A significant component of the Environment Day Week was the organization of Shramdaan (voluntary community service) activities. NSS volunteers participated in cleanliness drives and community service initiatives aimed at promoting hygiene, cleanliness, and responsible civic behaviour. Through these efforts, the students demonstrated that environmental protection begins with individual responsibility and collective action.
The NSS Cell also conducted society awareness campaigns, sensitizing people about sustainable lifestyles, biodiversity conservation, waste reduction, and the importance of preserving natural resources for future generations. The volunteers engaged with members of the community, spreading messages aligned with the global vision of sustainable development and environmental justice.
Extending the environmental message beyond campus activities, ISM Patna adopted a unique and meaningful green protocol during National Conferences organized between May 23 and June 5, 2026. Distinguished guests, keynote speakers, academicians, researchers, and industry experts participating in the institute’s national conferences were felicitated with live plants instead of conventional bouquets. This eco-friendly gesture reflected the institution's commitment to sustainable practices while inspiring guests to contribute towards environmental conservation.
The week-long programme was coordinated by Ms. Neeru Kumari, IQAC Coordinator and Administrator, along with Mr. Basuki Nath Upadhyay, NSS Cell Coordinator, and Ms. Swati Savarn, whose dedicated efforts ensured the successful planning and execution of all activities. NSS volunteers actively participated in every event, demonstrating enthusiasm, teamwork, and a strong sense of environmental responsibility.
Speaking on the occasion, the IQAC Coordinator emphasized that environmental protection is not merely an annual observance but a continuous commitment that requires participation from every section of society. They highlighted the crucial role educational institutions play in nurturing environmentally conscious citizens and promoting sustainable development through awareness, action, and community engagement.
The Environment Day Week concluded with a renewed pledge by students, faculty members, and staff to adopt eco-friendly practices, reduce environmental footprints, and contribute meaningfully toward building a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future.
Through these diverse initiatives, ISM Patna once again demonstrated its commitment to integrating environmental consciousness with education, community service, and responsible citizenship, thereby contributing to the broader national and global agenda of sustainable development.
