ISM Patna, August 15, 2026: The International School of Management (ISM), Patna, celebrated the 80th Independence Day with patriotic fervour and a vibrant display of India’s cultural diversity under the inspiring theme “Spirit of India – Celebrating Freedom, Unity and Achievement.” The celebration brought together the ISM fraternity in a spirited tribute to the nation’s freedom fighters while reaffirming the values of unity, responsibility, cultural pride and excellence that continue to shape India’s journey.
The programme commenced with the ceremonial hoisting of the National Flag by Shri Samrendra Singh, Chairman, ISM Patna, followed by the National Anthem. The fluttering Tricolour and the collective rendition of the anthem filled the campus with a profound sense of patriotism, pride and gratitude towards those whose sacrifices secured the nation’s freedom.
The occasion was graced by Shri Deval Singh, Vice-Chairman; Shri Amal Singh, Secretary; Shri Sanjay Singh, Special Guest; Dr. Sandeep Kumar, Director; Dr. Sweta Rani, Academic Head; Ms. Neeru Kumari, IQAC Coordinator; and Dr. Kumari Sunita Singh, Principal, Mundeshwari College of Teacher Education (MCTE). Faculty members, non-teaching staff and students also joined the celebration, lending colour and enthusiasm to the patriotic occasion.
A special highlight of the Independence Day celebration was the felicitation of Mr. Shivam Kumar, a student of the BCA 2025–28 batch of ISM Patna, who secured a Gold Medal at the Bihar State Karate Championship 2026, organised by the State Karate Association of Bihar. Adding further distinction to his achievement, Shivam has also been selected to represent Bihar at the upcoming National Karate Championship in New Delhi. He was felicitated on the occasion along with his karate coach, acknowledging both the young athlete’s outstanding performance and the guidance and training that contributed to his success.
The felicitation of Shivam Kumar added a fitting dimension to the celebration’s theme of freedom, unity and achievement. His success was presented as an inspiring example of how discipline, determination, perseverance and dedicated training can enable young people to excel beyond academics and bring recognition to their institution and state. His selection to represent Bihar at the national level also served as a source of motivation for fellow students to pursue excellence in sports and other fields while developing the confidence and character needed to contribute meaningfully to society and the nation.
Reflecting the theme of the celebration, students presented a series of cultural performances that blended patriotism with India’s rich cultural heritage. A patriotic group song captured the collective spirit of freedom and national unity, while a solo patriotic song evoked a deep sense of love, respect and devotion towards the motherland.
One of the major attractions of the celebration was the cultural ramp walk, “Spirit of India,” which transformed the stage into a vivid portrayal of India’s courage, sacrifice, leadership and national spirit. Students brought to life iconic personalities and powerful symbols of the nation, portraying Rani Lakshmibai, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Indira Gandhi, along with representations of India’s defence personnel, farmers and Bharat Mata. Through their costumes, expressions and stage presence, the participants paid tribute to the freedom fighters, nation-builders, soldiers, farmers and leaders whose courage, vision, service and sacrifice have shaped modern India. The presentation beautifully connected India’s glorious legacy with its continuing journey of nation-building, conveying the message that the true “Spirit of India” lives in the courage of its heroes, the strength of its people, the sacrifices of its defenders and the unity that binds the nation together.
The programme was coordinated by Ms. Swati Savarn, Coordinator, Cultural Committee, and Ms. Ragdah Javed, Member, Cultural Committee, whose efforts, along with the enthusiastic participation of students, made the celebration vibrant and memorable. Ms. Manisha Raj, a student of the BAJMC 2025–28 batch, anchored the entire stage programme, ensuring a smooth and engaging flow of events throughout the celebration.
The 80th Independence Day celebration at ISM Patna concluded with a renewed commitment to uphold the ideals of freedom, unity and responsible citizenship. Through the fusion of patriotic expression, cultural diversity and recognition of sporting excellence, the programme echoed the message that the Spirit of India lives not only in remembering the sacrifices of the past, but also in nurturing disciplined, confident and accomplished young citizens capable of carrying the nation’s aspirations forward.
