The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, International School of Management (ISM), Patna, visited Tarumitra Ashram, Patna, on 25 August 2026 to celebrate Raksha Bandhan with trees and promote awareness about environmental protection and sustainable living.
A total of 11 students and one faculty member participated in the visit. The students tied rakhis to trees as a symbolic gesture of their commitment to protecting and preserving the environment. Tarumitra Ashram pioneered the concept of celebrating Raksha Bandhan by tying rakhis to trees, promoting the message that trees are an integral part of our lives and deserve care and protection.
During the visit, the students learned about organic farming, different varieties of seeds, sustainable agricultural practices, biogas, and the use of solar energy. The visit provided the students with an opportunity to gain practical knowledge about environmental conservation and sustainable development.
Ms. Debopriya Dutta, Youth Coordinator and prominent environmental activist at Tarumitra, interacted with the students and explained various aspects of the ashram’s activities. She also shared information about the use of biogas and solar electricity at the ashram as sustainable alternatives and discussed the importance of environmentally responsible practices.
The visit was an enriching educational experience for the students, connecting classroom learning with practical knowledge of environmental sustainability. Through the celebration of Raksha Bandhan with trees, the students conveyed a strong message that protecting nature is a shared responsibility.
The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, International School of Management, continues to encourage students to participate in meaningful educational activities that promote social awareness, environmental responsibility, and sustainable development.
