Expert Talk on "HR Leadership"

Under the guidance of Director, Professor, (Dr) R. K. Singh, the Department of Human Resource Management of International School of Management Patna organised an expert talk on HR Leadership on Tuesday, 28 February. The targeted participants of this talk were 500 hundred PGDM and BBA fifth semester students of the institute. Ms. Priya Singh, Founder and Director, Xitamin Solutions Pvt Ltd, graced the event as resource person. All domain leaders and faculty members of Management Studies attended the talk and coordinated students in several events during the interactive deliberations by the resource person.  

The convener of this talk, Domain Leader of the Department of Human Resource, Ms. Pooja Dubey said that the informative and interactive session was intended to get students aware of practical aspects of dynamic roles of an HR manager in an organisation. It intended to impart work place experiences of the resource person regarding key roles of HR in job architecture, incumbent assessment, performance definition, recognition for success and building leadership capacity. She also added that by getting acknowledged with practical experiences of these key areas of HR manager the participants could be able to respond problem solving questions countered during personal interviews at the time of placement. 

The resource person talked about challenging roles of HR manager as leader in the age of technology revolution, demographic shifts and socio-psychological changes in employees in the hybridised work culture prevailed after Covid-19 pandemic. She suggested the participants to improve ‘soft skills’ subordinated to  ‘hard skills’ which are found to be more important in any organisation. She also added that an HR manager should remain focused on the fundamental goal, acting as ally, trusted adviser and coach as an organisational leader. 

During the second shift of the talk the inquisitive participants could interact with the resource person with their queries related to developing HR competencies, leadership skills and self-awareness. They also asked for tips regarding upskilling and transforming HR professionals into organisational leaders ready for uncertain future. 

Earlier the resource person was welcomed and felicitated by Ms. Pooja Dubey and Assistant Professor of HRM, Dr. Neshat Qamar. This session was moderated by Priti. A student Manasa Bhargav proposed vote of thanks.
